The New Health Care Law

On March 23, 2010 the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was signed into law. The Virginia Interfaith Center was on the front lines of the push for reform. But what does it mean for Virginians and how can Virginia's faith communities prepare for the most significant social reforms since the New Deal?

Our team of analysts have researcehd and assembed a comprehensive report of key elements of reform and written a brief congregational resource to help the faith community figure out how those within their communities will benefit and how the new law will help fulfill the mission to help the most vulnerable among us.

Whoops!
The gun-guys, Virginia Citizens Defense League, endorsed the wrong guy in Harrisonburg and two days before the election and are now asking their members to vote for the incumbent. In an embarrasing email, their PAC Chairman admits their surveys are a total sham.

When asked why their legislative survey was bupkus they went running from the room screaming gun safety advocate Lori Haas would "never pry our survey from our cold dead hands."  See the email below:

"The excellent pro-gun voting record for Matt Lohr, who is the incumbent running in the 26th District, was not properly considered when the VCDL-PAC was figuring out who to endorse in the race.

The VCDL-PAC originally decided to endorse Matt Lohr's opponent as he turned in a slightly better survey.  VCDL had been asked to report the legislative record of the various incumbent candidates under consideration. In reviewing the endorsements that the VCDL-PAC announced a few days ago, they realized that they had not properly reported Matt Lohr's legislative record and notified the VCDL-PAC of the error.

As you know, an actual voting record must be given strong consideration as what people do is more important than what they claim they will do.

Upon final review, the VCDL-PAC has decided to Endorse Matt Lohr in the race, as his voting record shows him to be a strong supporter of your gun rights.

We apologize for the confusion.

Sincerely,

Kenneth M. "Mack" Elliott, Jr.
Chairman, VCDL PAC"
