Social Enterprise

Enterprise Virginia
Enterprise Virginia is a statewide public-private partnership for asset building and microenterprise development. Enterprise Virginia’s mission is to grow access to fair lending, financial education, individual savings, use of banking services and microenterprise through community-driven microlending, mentorship and networking.

Through grants and investment, the Center is leveraging the Enterprise Virginia Peer Fund which allows for expansion of programs to reach a wide range of underserved Virginians, particularly those in low-income communities.

In 2010, Enterprise Virginia expanded from the metro-Richmond pilot program to include programs in Martinsville City and Henry County in Southside Virginia. To date, the program has made nine loans, mostly to women, to help start businesses and will be expanding through more mentorship programs and scaling up the capital fund in the coming months. This will provide the capacity to make more loans in the community.
