The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy has historically supported efforts to raise the minimum wage, both federally and in Virginia.

This Saturday, August 13, four to five thousand workers who have been leaders in the Fight for $15 from around the country will be in Richmond for their national meeting. Because many of these leaders work in fast food restaurants, many have been victims of wage theft, one of Virginia Interfaith Center’s priorities for the coming year.

There will be a rally and a march on Saturday, with folks meeting at Monroe Park at 1:30 pm and then marching down Monument Avenue. The Rev. Dr. William J Barber II will be one of the featured speakers.  Community and religious leaders are invited to join them.

I thought you would want to know about all these courageous activists gathering in Richmond. Most of these workers are young and people of color. They are doing a marvelous job helping change the public debate in the country about wages. I am grateful for all they are doing.

If you decide to join the march or rally, make a point of thanking these young leaders for their courage and activism.

With peace,

Kim Bobo, Executive Director
