Lakeside Wednesdays In Lent, 2017

(Presbyterian/Lutheran/Anglican/Roman Catholic/United Methodist)

Theme:  “Our Need for Reconciliation”

Four Christian faith traditions are inviting the community to gather together to observe Lent, the season of Jesus’ journey to the cross, and to follow him on that path for the sake of the world. Five congregations in the Lakeside area of Richmond are sponsoring these Wednesday evenings to be held at the host church, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church8200 Woodman Road; Henrico, from 5:45-7:30 pm.

Our communities, nation, and world seem to be torn apart at every turn. Families are divided; politics has become more combative and divisive. People of various races continue to suspect the “other.” Nations are at war with other nations and with their own people. It’s even to the point that faith traditions can’t seem to get along with each other and congregations fail to sense much harmony. These evening events offer the opportunity to come together around a common table to confront many of the issues that divide us and to discuss the potential for resolution, rooted in the reconciling factor of the cross of Jesus.

Each evening is open to all and begins at 5:45 pm with a simple meal provided and continues with the program and worship starting at 6:30 pm. The topics with the theme, “Our need for Reconciliation,” are as follows:

March 8 – In the Family (Seminarian Dan Molochko)

March 15 – In Our Nation and In Our World (Doug Johnston)

March 22 – In and Among the Faith Traditions (Rev. Dr. Janet Winslow, Bon Air Presbyterian Church)

March 29 – Among the Races (John Taylor)
