Going to DC for Children

On September 7 The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy will join with the Tidewater-based Child Advocacy Network of Virginia to send constituents and advocates to Washington, DC to speak with Senators Warner and Allen and area Congressional representatives.

Scheduled conversations with our federal legislators will center on the need for community programs that require federal funding. We know that Virginia will be impacted by any action in Congress that affects food stamps, Medicaid, WIC, housing, Head Start and other programs delivered to Virginia's neediest people.

The Interfaith Center invites your participation and your advocacy as Virginians go to Washington to be in faithful conversation with our federal representatives in government. Join other Virginians on a Bus Trip to Washington. The bus trip will originate in Chesapeake (Greenbrier Mall) and will stop in Richmond for additional boarding at St. John's United Church of Christ, at the foot of Monument Street, at 8:00 a.m.

In the Richmond church sanctuary participants from Central Virginia and the Tidewater area will gather at 8:00a.m. for 45 minutes for send-off remarks. The day's agenda will be offered by organizers; clergy engaged in urban ministry and state officials will speak sending off citizens to advocate for Virginia's vulnerable populations.
