The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy is proud to be one of the organizers of the 11th Virginia Immigrant Advocates Summit. This year’s event will be a two-day virtual summit that will allow attendees to participate safely while also engaging with speakers on topics important for immigrant communities in Virginia.

2020 has been a banner year for immigrant rights in Virginia with the passage of the state’s new in-state tuition law for all Virginia students regardless of their status and Virginia becoming the first southern state to pass driver’s license legislation for undocumented immigrants. This year’s summit will discuss these vital legislative reforms and their implementation as well as examine detention and police reforms within the context of immigrant enforcement. We will also look forward to potential policy changes for immigrant rights at the 2021 General Assembly.

This year’s summit will also provide a post-2020 election debriefing and its impact of changes to federal immigration law including the DACA and TPS programs as well as the need for comprehensive immigration reform.

Details of the agenda will be sent soon.
