It is time to gear up for registering voters and encouraging people to vote! Communicating with people we personally know and building relationships with new people are the most effective ways to encourage voting. The Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy (VICPP) will be offering a weekly training session on how to use Impactive -- a phone app -- for using your phone to encourage people to vote. Non-tech-savvy people are welcome!

The identical session will be offered every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. until the elections.  (Ends Nov. 3.)

Join us and invite your friends and family to join us with you or for a following week’s training session!

As you know, Virginia has an election every year. This year are the federal mid-term congressional elections, which are very important but notoriously low-turnout elections. Next year are our state elections in which every member of the General Assembly will be up for re-election, and many will be running in newly drawn districts.
Let’s learn how to use some of the newer outreach tools this year, so we can hit the ground running in 2023!
(Remember, we all learned Zoom, so we can learn new tools!

At the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy (VICPP), we think of non-partisan civic engagement as year-round work – registering, voting, and advocating on policies. We encourage everyone to make a plan, at your congregation, campus, in your community, for voter registration and get-out-the-vote actions.

Over the last few years, there have been lots of new ways that individuals and congregations have used technology to enhance their outreach in ways proven to improve turnout. VICPP will again be offering training and support to congregations on using some of the new technologies to enhance registration and voting.

Trade in (or amplify the effectiveness of) your clipboards for more powerful and efficient ways to encourage voting. Even the most non-tech savvy person can learn, and VICPP is here to help you!

We can make a greater impact this year in particular due to a brand new change in Virginia that goes into effect this election season -- “same-day voter registration.” If people have not registered or have forgotten to change their registration to a new location, they can go to the local voting location on Election Day and register to vote and file a provisional ballot. This provisional ballot is counted if the voter's information is found to be accurate.
